Working a shopping trip around the needs of your little ones can be tricky but our easily accessible family rooms are designed to make these practicalities a little easier.
Parent and child rooms are located on the upper level of the Welcome Halls and in the West Village toilet area (lower level). If you have a pram there are lifts located nearby in each of the Welcome Halls for easy access.
The Parent Room in The Winter Garden has additional facilities in its feeding room, with bottle warming facilities including a microwave. There is also a separate room for changing in this area.
John Lewis and House of Fraser also provide baby feeding and changing rooms within their stores.
Child Safe Zones and Wristbands
Bluewater is a family friendly and safe place to visit, shop and have fun. However, losing a child, even for a few moments can be very distressing and our Child Safe Zones Shopping scheme can help reassure and get help fast.
Pick up a wristband from one of the Guest Services desks on arrival, write your child’s details and a mobile number and place the band on the wrist. If they do get separated, they can go into any retailer displaying a Child Safe Zone poster in the window or find a Bluewater host who will take your child to the nearest Guest Services desk where we contact the parent/guardian with the details on the wristband. The wristbands are bright, waterproof and tough so as well as shopping at Bluewater, they are ideal to use on other days out.
As you walk around the mall you will notice that some of our stores have a bright orange balloon sticker in their windows - these carry our helpline number: 08700 62 19 11. If you lose a child or need to report an incident look for the nearest sticker and ring this number to talk directly to our security and customer services team.
Bluewater was built to exacting standards to meet the needs of guests with disabilities, and the services that we provide on a day-to-day basis aim to ensure that all our visitors are able to enjoy a great day out with us.

Bluewater has a number of toilets for those with disabilities throughout the centre, including two Changing Places (high dependency units), one located in the Village and one by lower yellow welcome hall (a radar key is required to gain access to the high dependency unit by the lower yellow welcome hall). If you require assistance with this, please call Bluewater Helpcentre on 01322 623 423 or speak to one of our hosts,

Here at Bluewater we take your safety and security very seriously. There is a police station on-site and we work closely with Kent Police to ensure Bluewater remains a safe and relaxed environment for our guests and staff. We also have our own fully accredited security team who work alongside Kent Police and patrol the centre routinely. This unique partnership sees us supporting the local community by funding the police officers, who work closely with our security teams. They patrol internal and external areas regularly during operational hours and can apprehend and detain suspects in a custody suite at the onsite police station.
Our Police & security teams use several tactics to keep you safe and secure, including security operations, (both uniformed and plain clothed), ad-hoc vehicle checks, ANPR technology, security operations etc. Through our partnership we benefit from the additional support of the British Transport Police who patrol rail networks and nearby stations.
We have high definition CCTV that has been installed throughout the centre and our car parks. This is monitored 24/7 by our highly trained security staff and extensive lighting. The walkways across the centre have large open spaces and clear sight lines, even the trees and shrubs are routinely cut back to maintain visibility.
We ensure security is an integral part of our day to day activities. We ask you to help us by being vigilant for anything or anyone that looks suspicious or out of place. We are on call 24/7 so if you see something you can call us 101 in a non-emergency situation or 999 in an emergency.

If you require First Aid assistance, please ask a host in the mall or visit one of our Guest Services desks. Working in partnership with the South East Coast Ambulance Service, Bluewater has an ambulance base situated at the centre. This reduces the emergency response times to Kent Thameside and the service also benefits from the provision of mobile defibrillators on site.
The 24-hour ambulance base situated next to the police station at Bluewater is about 1km from Darent Valley Hospital. This in an important project for the whole community giving Bluewater much better access to paramedics.
Toilets are never more than 50 metres away and are located in each of our Welcome Halls on the upper level and on the lower level of the Village and Winter Garden. Bluewater has taken guidance from Colostomy UK to provide stoma-friendly toilet facilities across the centre. These can be found in our Rose Gallery, Guildhall and Thames Walk toilet blocks, and include wall hooks, a colostomy bag shelf, a wall mirror and the correct disposal facilities.
There are post boxes in all of the lower welcome halls and WHSmith offer a parcel delivery service.
Photo-Me photobooths deliver identity photos that meet the International Civil Aviation Organisation standards (“ICAO”), and are therefore suitable for official documents including UK passport, driving licence and identity cards. The photobooth can also deliver ID photos suitable for visa applications. The Photo-Me photobooth can be found in the Winter Garden outside the family rooms.
