25 years since Friends first aired, Rachel Green
is still a major ‘90s style icon. Steal her style with these character-inspired outfits
from the high street.
In the 90's, Friends’ Rachel Green inspired thousands of women to cut their hair with perhaps the most iconic hair look in history. She wore mini skirts and knee-high boots like no one else, paired sporty casual pieces with business smart, and made us all want to work as a waitress because she looked so damn good doing it. 25 years since the seminal show first aired, Rachel (played by Jennifer Anniston) is still a reigning style icon – Ralph Lauren’s recently announced Friends collection is testament to that. It is a veritable love letter to Rachel and her eventual career at the brand; especially her work wardrobe of knitted dresses, blazers and tailored trousers.
However, if like us you want to channel Rachel Green but can’t shell out a cool £595 for a cashmere dress, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve combed through Rachel’s best looks – yes, all 703 of them – to put together our own high street Friends inspired style guide. Scroll on for the ultimate autumn fashion inspiration and maybe even a potential Halloween costume or two.
The One With Overalls
Rachel wore several overalls throughout the ten seasons of Friends, from cropped to full-length, black and blue denim. Like Rachel, layer yours over a simple t-shirt and wear with trainers for a casual, sporty look.
The One With The Plaid Skirt
Perhaps one of Rachel’s most iconic looks – a plaid mini skirt and cropped jumper is right on trend for Autumn/Winter ’19. For a Halloween costume we would complete the look with Rachel’s knee-high socks and heeled loafers; for everyday we’re instead opting for tights and knee-high boots, another Rachel Green favourite.
The One With The Layered Slip Dress
Is there anything more ‘90s than a layered slip dress? We think not. This is a great trick for wearing summer dresses into autumn.
The One With The Pink Fur Jacket
Remember that explosion of coloured faux fur last winter? Rachel did it first. Paired with solid basics it doesn’t look too like a costume.
