I remember the Monday evening just like it was last week. Because it was.
I was getting ready to make the same stir fry dinner for the third night in a row, when I caught a glimpse of a pretty card on my kitchen counter…
Oh no. It’s the wedding invite you got 3 months ago that’s happening this weekend. Which means, t-minus 4 days to get together a wedding outfit. That was exactly when the usual course of panic due to intense procrastination ensued. But once I realised that shopping online is one of my favourite pastimes anyway, the anxiety was subdued.
We’ve all been in situations where we’re desperate to get a proper event outfit in a limited amount of time, but with the right retail guidance, anything is possible. So, in the midst of such a clothing time crunch, I put on my shopping boots, walked across my apartment, and sat down on my sofa and opened up my laptop. The boxes that needed ticking were: a fabulous dress; elegant, yet subtle enough not to outdo the bride, of course, a pair of heels; comfortable enough to out-dance everyone at the reception with ease, but cute enough to complete the outfit, the right amount of accessories that complement the ensemble, but don’t take the attention away from the garments, and last but not least, to make the entire end-bill cost no more than £100. Because let’s be honest, this summer has not been kind to my bank account.
Hopefully my end result inspires you to scrimp a little on your event outfits, given the end-result can still be a stunner. And if you’re not attending anymore weddings this season, I hope the thought of putting together a bangin’ budget look will at least give you the urge to crash one.
Here’s what I came up with:
