Wedding season is upon us, and from celebrities to co-workers we’re seeing ‘save the date’ announcements left, right and centre. If you happen to be one of the lucky people getting married this season, first of all, we at Bluewater wish you a warm congratulations, and a few offerings of solace in what some might find to be an incredibly stressful time. Although we can’t exercise all the physical labour of a bridesmaid, e.g. big hugs, marathon organisation tasks and lots of texting, we can manifest our loving support in a more passive way, by providing you with plenty of options to shop.
In the big, progressive year of 2019 we’re seeing a change in traditional methods, including how we practice marriage. Weddings are of course a momentous occasion that is marked by ceremonious traditions, but people are finding different ways to modernise it in their own personal way, often times via their big day ’dress - or lack-thereof. Don’t worry, we’re not recommending exchanging vows in your birthday suit. We mean that a lot of people are gravitating towards other garments to wear on their wedding day other than white dresses, such as an actual suit. A clean, charming and bold, white bridal suit, no less.
Wearing a white suit to a wedding has been nothing new to the grooms, but this year we’re seeing an unspoken celebrity campaign gearing the tailored attire towards brides. In fact, we’ve noted the campaign has begun outside of the church, city hall, or other wedding venue of choice. Priyanka Chopra, Lupita Nyong’o and Glenn Close are all amongst A-list fans wearing the iconic white suit to talk shows and on the red carpet. As far as the white bridal suit goes, that traces back to Bianca Jagger in the 70’s at her idyllic and spontaneous wedding in St. Tropez, fit for a rock star’s wife. But just last year we saw It girl, Emily Ratajkowski rocking a colourful mustard Zara pant-suit to her quiet and oh-so-chic courthouse wedding which just goes to prove that anything goes.
So if you’re looking to make the move over from trains to trousers, or ball gowns to blazers, take a look at our top selection of bridal suits at Bluewater. You’re guaranteed to say ‘I do’.
