Tennis Whites: The Best Ways To Wear The Iconic Wimbledon Shade This Summer

From chic Meghan Markle inspired blazers to dazzlingly bright dresses that Kate would love, there are a million ways to wear the ultimate colour of Wimbledon. We pick out our favourite 10…

For us here in Britain, it is now the prime season for the age-old English sport we all admire: tennis. Why? Because it’s Wimbledon, of course! If you’re familiar with the classic and classy game, you’ll know that there are quite a few rules associated with it, especially within a prestigious tournament such as Wimbledon. Not just guidelines on how to play, but guidelines on how to dress too! In fact, Wimbledon’s website states 10 dress code requirements for all competitors, all about one thing: the colour white.

Although that guideline is just for players, and those attending Wimbledon to spectate aren’t under the same kind of sartorial obligations, each year we find ourselves inspired by the sleek and elegant impact wearing a strong white has. Not eggshell, nor off-white or ecru, but bright, dazzling tennis white. And judging by some of our celebrity spots, this year is no different, which is why we’re busy searching around for the brightest whites that will make us feel like superstars off the court (since, let’s face it, most of us are not equipped with the same skillset as Serena does on the court).

The original purpose behind wearing white while playing tennis was to conceal the act of perspiration - particularly for women. But since we’re no longer under the illusion that women could never sweat when playing sports, we now turn to wearing white in our leisure, to give our skin the extra glow it needs, show off our developing tans and to fulfil its role as the ultimate summer shade (and if it’s happens to eradicate the appearance sweat patches in the meantime, we’re fine with that too.). So if you’d like to try your shot at serving up Wimbledon inspired white’s in your wardrobe then read on, because we’ve got just what you need to make all your outfits an absolute ace this season.
